As a federal employee I can't even begin to describe the feeling of abandonment I feel from the Democratic Party right now. I'll walk through fire to help their primary challengers defeat them.

But with these 2 new court rulings to rehire everyone - doesn’t that change the calculation on government shutdown? Because if they are all going to get immediately reinstated - and paid - they won’t be if there is a shutdown.

I don’t know. Seems like it would be easier to permanently eliminate the positions if they weren’t in them. Also - why would the shutdown end? Wouldn’t the goal be to run the government with only the “essential” skeleton crew forever? And who determines who is essential?

I think it's safest to assume that shutdown or no shutdown, the Nut House won't be in a hurry to get anyone working - or paid - again; ergo whether there's a shutdown or not won't affect their circumstances that much.

Maybe. A number of friends and colleagues abruptly fired at VA as provisional. Local brass did not want them fired. Maybe they get some relief. Judges were pretty adamant. Could be wishful thinking.

What flipped my opinion on this is something I saw on TV or read somewhere....If the dems vote no and shut down the government, then Trump/Repubs will never reopen it. No government is what they want. Dems will be blamed for destroying the government. Only the Repubs in congress can reopen it
