I really wanted to get into the game, but it wasn't clicking for me. I do like that people seem to enjoy it as fixes came in compared to its 2020 release.
And to think I bought it on clearance before the anime came out.
Cyberpunk plays great but there's not much to draw me back to it. So I'm extremely grateful that they are different games with different dynamics to appreciate.
I tried to play Cyberpunk the other day after ~1.5 years away and the game is so vastly different than it was the last time I played; it was very overwhelming. I closed it and opened up Starfield. This is coming from someone with 140+ hours in both games
There are so many good things in that game, some interesting systems, and a few good quest lines but it’s so mediocre. Too much fast travel, too many useless items, not enough choice. The vision wasn’t able to be executed in the time and budget allowed. Failure of planning.
I feel like Starfield would have been one of the greatest games of all time if it came out in 2006, it just feels like Oblivion. But even Oblivion had better load screens.
It is literally impossible to enjoy Starfield if you remember Cyberpunk exists. If you do the corporate espionage side quest in Starfield with this knowledge you’re owed .13% of one of Todd Howard’s kidneys.
Everybody has their own taste obv and enjoy what you enjoy- I probably mined some 50 hours of fun out of Starfield- but man it’s so very charitable to not be ultimately frustrated by everything that game left on the table.
taking folks arms and legs off with a shotty in cyberpunk then going to the sterile and bland starfield and seeing people ragdoll with no visible damage and weapons having no impact is so, so bad feeling lol
I've been a Bethesda superfan since Morrowind. I've put over 1000 hours in ES 3, 4, and 5, and in FO 3, NV, and 4. Not even that level of lifelong devotion could save Starfield for me, it's a failure on almost every level. It's pretty depressing to watch Bethesda lose their way so completely.
Putting 60 hours into starfield and then going back into cyberpunk for the DLC when it dropped was a wild experience. It just made starfield feel a decade old by comparison.
That was me, but with Fallout New Vegas, and thinking "Fallout 4 should have been this".
But then I remembered I always think that when I am playing New Vegas. I have too much time in that game lol! On topic: Cyberpunk is a lot of fun, but I never finished it. Just like Witcher 3.
the outer worlds is the best version of what Starfield should have started at. Its still half baked, lots of content it should have had. Hopefully sequal will show us what it should have been.
There's a perk that scales shotgun damage with movement speed. Which means that if you blasted someone while going past at Mach 9, they just got vaporized.
With the combat system overhaul in 2.0, I've done both body and int builds. I still really need to boot up a new save and do a cool build with throwing knives, those were useless before 2.0 so I never touched them.
I played it from launch too and it didn't seem as bad as people kept saying. Ran into a few t-posing NPCs and an animation glitch or two but it wasn't going off like Skyrim at release or anything. The PS4/Xbox One players got hosed pretty bad by all accounts though.
If you're looking for good Starfield alternatives I hear the Starbourne games are really good especially part 2. Only on pc atm but might make it's way to other platforms soon. Might be worth a look if you're interested.
To be fair, when Cyberpunk was Starfield’s age, it wasn’t uncommon to come across quest-related NPCs spinning wildly in mid-air six feet above the pavement so that you couldn’t interact with them.
I had an absolutely glorious bug with the NPCs in the infamous crucifixion quest. After the dialogue at the diner, they drove off and promptly got into a massive wreck, causing their vehicle to violently explode. The quest never officially finished and I never heard from them again 😂
YES. I got to Neon in Starfield and put in a couple more hours before I was finally overwhelmed by the urge to just go start a new playthrough of Cyberpunk instead.
Abandoned Cyberpunk after that mess of a launch, playing Starfield now and boy will I jump in Cyberpunk right after. Starfield is so bland and old fashioned, looks like it was laboriously made by hand but by a mediocre craftsman.
Cyberpunk after the patches and especially with the expansion is one of the greatest games now. The City is the most believable sci-fi setting I ever experienced.

Indie developer Bethany Esda is not known for her writing.
Starfield was so bad I got bored before the tutorial even ended. The writing was abysmal
I played through on Stadia, and I need to see how it plays on PS5 after all the updates.
I'm finding BG3 clunky as hell but I already want the Githyanki chick to hit me six times and make me count with her
Saying that about Starfield is unfair and just comes off as petty.
If you don't like the game, fine, but just be upfront about it.

Everyone was running Kerenzikov and air movement because you could go at the speed of light.
Good times.
That said, I haven't played Cyberpunk, I'm sure I'd be in the same boat if I did. 🤣
