Some revelatory outtakes in there - I was hoping play a tribute set, but this surpassed my expectations after almost a solid week of listening to the Beach Boys. And the New Surfsiders 3-minute SMiLE cover was extraordinary! A garage symphony to Brian. Thank you Jesse x
The other day I checked the WFMU playlist search and was surprised no one (or at least no one in the online playlist era) has ever played Brian Wilson’s hilarious “Too Much Sugar.”
I lost it at some point, but back in ‘98 or ‘99 I picked up a bootleg 2 disc Smile sessions recording that had a whole section of outtakes including audio from the control room; I’d love to listen back to that stuff
