I posted this last night as a joke, but after sleeping on it, I’m even more convinced it’s a genuinely good idea.

Bring back the stocks. Bad consult for some stupid kidney thing? Spend an hour in the stocks. Public humiliation is underutilized at the attending level.

Almost.
Well, apart from...oh, and..... also the time when....
Hmm- maybe not such a great idea after all.8
2. Ortho: consult without xray
3. Neuro: consult without neuro exa...nah
though to the point, I once worked at a group that had basically equal pay, but motivated by posting productivity on a slide at quarterly meeting
but that was when shame still existed
For ophtho:
1. Fail to remove contacts from intubated patients
2. Any consult without a vision assessment
3. Ophthalmology consult for blurry vision which I cure by putting the patient’s glasses on their face
Trust me this will correct behavior
1. Failure to ask diet history before referring for “iron deficiency anemia”
2. Consult for “Cancer Workup” for weight loss in adolescent teenage girl with eating disorder
3. Consult to “only perform a bone marrow”, not for a comprehensive evaluation for a bone marrow disorder
Now I understand: they were avoiding the stocks
And, yes, he got the contact out!!!
1. Give opioids for migraine
2. 30 second seizure -> Ativan -> intubate for mental status
3. Consult for seizure management when the management is “restart the seizure meds you forgot about when you made them NPO”
1. Antiretroviral management when the management is “just don’t stop their Biktarvy.”
2. Cavitary lung lesion when the patient is not on isolation and no sputums have been sent because they are “waiting on the Quantiferon Gold”.
3. “Extensive purulence encountered, no cultures sent.”

After the shoes were removed there was no wound. Sounds like a prime candidate
Also when IM SENDS a really old person to the ER for “check” after seeing & lab-ing them same day but wont admit them for “old”
It will be very good for society.
