I’m curious why Casey Means actually quit in *year 5* of ENT residency. Like I get burning out and leaving medicine to own a bakery or something, but the stated reason is bc she wanted to treat the “root cause” of disease? What? ENT gotta be top 10 in specialties that cure disease. It’s surgery.

We interviewed a new faculty candidate, stellar candidate for the role. I mentioned I worked with one of her co-residents. Her responses:

He was a full-on nut ball, quit medicine, joined a cult
OHSU is affiliated with a VA hospital so likely tons of patients.

I dunno. I tried thinking positive when they found a rare cancer on my spine. Didn't change anything so I had surgery and let them amputated my tailbone.
