Mum came for a quick early dinner = 2 solid hours of listening to her rant about my father. Is this a given when you've been married for 40yrs? I just can't grasp it. One of my nieces went to her 20 year school reunion last week and was completely shocked by all her friends crying about how miserable their marriages are when they got a few drinks down.

I would LOVE to go to a school reunion. I'd love to see how people's lives turned out.

I went to my 5 year, which was Too Soon. Skipped the 10 year (and apparently it was everyone talking about the stones in their engagement rings) and I've been here for the rest of them. I have been to a couple of school functions (one on Friday, actually) but that's a different sort of thing.

Our Old Girls Association is pretty active. Were I thus inclined & in Australia I could do golf days etc. Friday's function was part of the 140th anniversary celebrations - the headmistress & deputy head did a dinner here, then they are speaking at a conference in the US & hosting a dinner in NY.
