Them: "Atheists can't understand the Bible. Only a Christian can truly discern it."
Me: "Feels like God could've written a better book, then. I don't have to be a particular religion to understand a cookbook. Not sure why we would hold God to a lower standard than Betty Crocker.

Their conversion tactics remind me of aggressive time share idiots. Offensive and stupid
Problem is too many people read it literally- that’s not the point.
What people seem to miss it that we are supposed to work together, take care of less fortunate, don’t put yourself above other people. Take care of this earth we have been given.
And no, there's not a good interpretation for those parts
I’d rather see the message of love, kindness and caring.
Seem like an easy fix.
Let’s to say it’s stupid bullshit to control idiots.
It's also dead wrong - if you can study literature then you can have interesting and valid insights into the Biblical text whether or not you have belief or spirituality in your life.
The reason we're Atheist is because we read and understand the Bible.
The boys who wrote that book, commissioned by a Pagan, knew they were writing fiction but damn, were their no editors in 325 Rome?
Not a cookbook. Good didn't directly write it.
Who also didn't write my comment
Seems like a pretty unjust god, not one you should kiss up to
no women helped
Thanks Jesuits, i followed your teachings. Tada!!! Atheist
Christianity like all religions are cults.
If another religion doesn't agree with their religion it's called a cult.
An interpretation of
An interpretation of
An interpretation of….
I know. I used to teach Sunday School. These people do not understand it at all. They "know" it, in that they pick parts of it, but they don't understand it.
Anyone can interpret via textual criticism, but there’s more than one hermeneutic.
Me: “Let’s visit Nolan.”
why do you think we became atheists?
we can distinguish fact from fiction.
prophecies, miracles, and resurrection only happen in fictional books.
gods are mere characters in fictional books written by humans. we've invented hundreds. none are real.
see how easy that is?
Highly logical, I had issues with some of the answers and asked the nuns for some clarification.
I was told "don't question" just learn what's written.
That's where they lost me
😎
1 Teach religion to a young person.
2 Don’t answer questions
3 Have faith
4 Read the Bible
5 Ask questions about the confusing part, don’t get answers.
6 Go to church
7 Watch everyone not do anything godly
8 Still no answers
9 Become an atheist and you are still wrong.
-Actual quote from one of my Baptist college professors.
One nation, under this bullshit. Enjoy!
1) a dumb look
2) some "Two Corinthians" bullshit.
I really thought Trump was Catholic when he didn't know a single verse.
"Love God above all else, and love your neighbor as yourself."
For the folks who go by the New Testament (Christians), this is a pretty simple rule. If one lacks a god, then love His world and people above all else 🤷♂️?
Blame everyone else, sound familiar . Fake news. Jesus may have been a good person so they killed him .
How would we know?
Rewritten hundreds of times by popes to control man.
No male prostitution,we know they existed. Just female to show how depraved we will become if we don’t have a man to obey in our life.
Remember that Christians aren't the only ones using the Bible AND that there's a bunch of stuff that they added to the original.
That’s funny.
That’s a pretty obvious way of saying that one knows not what that book is.
There is no “original”.
That's all I mean.
We're also constantly discovering new information about the authorship of various books and sections. It's really cool!
I've met very few theists who ever cracked the bible outside a church.
They feel it's a waste. The preacher will tell them what to believe.
You're correct; the NT does not appeal to fundamentalists.
They primarily quote text from the OT.
Maybe 20 passages from Genesis to Proverbs, and little else.
(forgot who said that, going to look it up)
