I’m still on a rollercoaster of feelings about Leo XIV.
I thought I might never see an American Pope. Seeing him makes the loss of Francis more real- and shows how much the world has changed. I’m heartened by personal testimonies about him. And worry as an LGBTQ person about some of his words.(1/4)

We could see only a little of what Francis became before he was Francis. Both in his positives—including for people like me and families like mine—and negatives. (3/4)
We’ll need to learn more about who he’s always been and still is, and also is now.
Ultimately, this Catholic with complications prays for him, and mostly chooses hope.
