BTW, the better spelling is "Chanukah" in part because it's got the Ch- thing up front and in part because you don't have to remember, as with the other spelling, which consonant gets doubled.

I love that -kkah ending. Vaguely reminiscent of vacuum insofar as the more surprising letter is the one that gets doubled, which makes it more fun. But Hebrew/Arabic words are always fun w their choose-your-own-adventure spellings in English. 😂
Every year my Grandfather, born in the Pale of Settlement & brought to the US as an infant, A JD, & later, a Jr. High Principal (OJ Simpson’s as it happens, but that’s another story.) would greet us at the door with “Chappy Cha-nukah.” Every. Year.

My grandpa said "Shabbos" but I was taught "Shabbat". Like that.
