I hope so, already stole their innocence by making them have to have active shooter drills, taken away free lunch, making it harder for their parents to provide decent meals at home, and now hoping that they have a roof, making libraries in to juvenile detention centers…when do they come 1st…🤬
Oh no, a viral tweet! You truly have the patience of a saint explaining how this works to every single knee-jerk "Netflix Bad" reply. The old HBO deal was so much worse! This should have been an easy way for Netflix to pick up some good will.

Currently Sesame Street is on Max (the Warner Bros. streaming service) and then some months later those new episodes are also aired on PBS stations (and I think also made available on the PBS Kids app).
Warner opted against continuing when that arrangement runs out & now Sesame has partnered with Netflix for a similar arrangement, but there won’t be a delay between the Netflix & PBS availability.
Presumably, having partners like this (& Netflix money) is a way for Sesame to be a little insulated from things like the Rs coming after money for things like the show. So if you’re a family that watches via PBS or that app, nothing should change, & if you watch on Max, you’ll need Netflix instead.

It actually doesn't say that. It just says that it will be on the PBS Kids App in the US and on Netflix everywhere else. It doesn't say anything about terrestrial broadcast or same day.
Nope, that image says it’ll be on the PBS Kids app, and Sesame also says it’ll be available to PBS stations same day too (which is better than the deal right now when it’s on Max).

Best news I've had all week maybe all month! I first watched Sesame Street as a 7yo and fell in love with all the characters although my all-time favorite was Oscar the Grouch. Cuz my room was messy, I was an introverted grouchy girl with a natural bulldog face who preferred being alone. Scram!

It’s great that it’s of no cost, but if Netflix paid their taxes instead of their CEO hanging out with the felon who is gutting funding for public television, well, that would be better. 🙂
So in other words you want us to pay a subscription fee monthly, and also help you with your fund drives? Wow. Why didn't you have contingency plans? You knew Trump and Rubio wanted to shut you down. I would have had no issues with subscriptions, but you lost me when you started two-sided the news.
Nope. I do know I stream and PBS kids and other PBS programs offer streaming services. This, I don't understand the Netflix and PBS kids are partnering.
PBS and PBS Kids will still be there & still have Sesame Street. Right now that is the case, but episodes appear first on MAX. MAX declined to continue that arrangement, so now Netflix is paying to have new Sesame Street episodes the same time as PBS. So I’m not clear on what you are angry about.

Right. But I trust Netflix as far as I can throw them. That was not meant to be an attack on you. I just don't trust Netflix. Would surprise me 0% if there ended up being a pay version of the PBS Kids app.
The deal is similar to the one that has already existed for the last ten years with HBO/Max and also appears to be with Sesame Workshop, not PBS. Not saying there can’t be some outside factors that harm kids’ access sometime, but I don’t think this is nefarious.

My little girls loved Sesame Street. It also gave me a time when I could have some peace and quiet, knowing it was a great way for them to be entertained.

Sesame already had this kind of deal with MAX for the last few years, this is just because MAX declined to continue the arrangement. And now the new episodes will go out same day on PBS, which hasn’t been the case in years.
Sesame made the HBO in 2015, before Trump. Things were heading that direction even before that. In the mid-00s there were fights about cutting budgets that were only resolved because they couldn’t drop any more episodes without cutting a letter from the alphabet.
Ah gotcha. Doesn't change my stance necessarily (at this moment), but I appreciate the timeline clarification. It is something I will need to dig into the weeds more.
I imagine we agree on the rottenness of the assaults on public institutions like PBS, I just think the folks at Sesame Workshop are largely honorably committed to the show’s mission despite many challenges & the Netflix deal seems better than “HBO money goes away & the show dwindles further/ends.”

Sesame has been on PBS stations so how can it be available if they are removing it? I’m a bit confused.
We're celebrating this?

You can’t stop Big Bird, Trump World!
The deal was brokered under the first Trump administration, with the same goal in mind. We are seeing a continuation of that goal.
PBS defunding and complete privatization of its IP are next.
