Finally, I've come to the conclusion that PIF are rather successful in business and probably know what they're doing so I'm just going to chill until we hear more. Yep. Each to their own; I personally think we'll be OK with Nickson and Howe leading discussions. Howe sold his vision of /for the club brilliantly when he applied for the job - he can do that to potential signings IMO.

Still far from ideal to be navigating this window without a director that’s aligned with the manager and our scouts. I’d say Ashworth added value to the recruitment process in the summers of ‘22 and ‘23.

Ah, but therein lies the issue. Was he truly aligned? Some say they'd buried the hatchet but then why leave following meeting PIF?
There is always merit in having a DoF for sure, but we didn't need one to get Bruno, Trippier etc.
Nickson has also got the capability to be our next DoF as well.

Another thought: what about the Isak contract situation? Aren’t those negotiations over a new deal something that Eales/Mitchell would have handled? I really hope those talks aren’t on ice now, because I’d love nothing more than to see some progress on that front this summer.

Honestly, I'm not sure if anyone outside the club knows if it was in progress or had even started. I get what you're saying but, given that he's contracted to '28, I'd have thought that it would be more of an end of summer job - by which time a new CEO & DoF will (or at least should) be in situ.

I'm not really concerned that Mitchell was sacked. Howe admired Bruno and found him through his scouts. I say trust Howe, Nickson and Howe (nephew).
