I really don't know. The easy answer is he's looking at polls & thinks this is the best way to fend off Reform. One might blame political consultants. But that explanation seems insufficient. I'd have thought he was smarter & more principled than that. Something has changed; I don't know what.

I suspect, as you say, it's v careful analysis of polling on potential swing voters to Reform & nothing more. There's huge suspicion among older voters that imm. from culturally dissimilar countries will dilute 'British culture'. Farage pumps that nonsense at every opp. Vile but effective.

I suspect a suitably ambiguous policy on investigating chemtrails might be politically savvy too.

I think its a bit more nuanced than that tbh, he hasn't really delegated domestic policy to anyone, McFadden is doing a fair bit, but not all. It's a problem all UK PM's face when you have to deal continually with major international problems, domestic issues get crowded out, leading to today
