we got a quote idk prob 7 years ago for a new condenser & a little duct work for 1400sqft… think it was ~$13k. we were in a very transitional neighborhood & I’d assume there is a general socal tax lol. but either way get a couple quotes!
Adding the ac component. I only have central heating rn. $23k is just to add ac. If I want a full replacement, that was $29k or $39k depending on whether I wanted variable. Again, I’d rather sell and get a whole ass new house
ahhhh yeah, that's basically a whole new install (compressor, handler, coils) less whatever they can re-use from your existing setup, so 23k sounds about right for socal?
alternatively, could do mini-splits throughout house
Eh, I’d rather do central ac or not do it at all. To me, mini splits seem like an expensive (and kinda tacky) interim solution that’s going to have to get addressed anyways at some point
That seems a little high for me. Down in San Diego, I would expect no more than 15k. Maybe 18k with duct work. I'd get another quote. If you're a Costco member there are usually local companies than have member pricing.
