It's funny, because France stands for "good food," and yet the Europeans I know who were placed with French families for some sort of exchange in their teens, or did an internship with a homestay somewhere, etc., still shudder when they describe the cooking.
Instagram went through a phase of serving me lots of French home cooking videos, you know the type - "I feed my kids this simple mean at least once a week" - & I was never so shocked in my life. 🤢
I've repressed most of them, but there was a lot of grated broccoli & bland things mixed with other bland things then baked in quiche crusts made of grated carrot or whatever. Just very bland & claggy.
