Richmond Birdwing is an exciting find- well done! In my habitat garden I have planted 3 of its food plant vines (Aristolochia praevenosa) to hopefully help it along where it’s been extirpated 😔

The first one showed up on 3 September, Christina - very early for them, presumably sparked by the late August heatwave - and then they were almost daily at home for the next six weeks, before the spring generation presumably died off. The next gen should be on the wing from January-March! 🤓

We don't have any A. praevenosa in our garden, but it's been planted (by council?) in the creekside vegetation opposite, which is protected. They were also very attracted to a heavily flowering snow wood :)
