There has been more published, discoverable fanfiction written for the Transformers franchise in the last month than there has been for Magic: The Gathering in the past decade.

And what’s odd is that Magic has interesting characters and a dedicated fanbase, and we just …haven’t done anything with them. Do we need to make a National Magic Fanfic Writing Month or something?
Half of the lore in this game is based on individuals hopping across worlds. How can it be that there is no good crossover fiction out there! I keep looking but I’m always disappointed.
I like playing around in the sandbox of Magic worlds, because there do be a lot of Worldbuilding, but it doesn't really translate well for fanfic other people typically want to read. So that stuff stays unpublished or undiscoverable, for the most part.
(As an aside, please, WotC, stop making stories that Change the Entire Multiverse Forever every 3 years, it makes it very annoying for me in particular trying to tell stories in the margin when I have to account for that shifting everything before I can finish the stories.)
I'm just going to pretend the whole recent Phyrexian invasion didn't happen and people can't just go through holes to get places and a moth-house isn't hunting people.
Right, but we also have whatever Jace-induced change is upcoming next year lined up already too. And the more one drifts away, the less satisfying for me, I like my stories to be possible, just off-camera from canon and focused on different characters.
I mean, this does track with my general observation that most Magic: The Gathering fans hate Magic: The Gathering.
Anecdotally I think there's only about two characters the overall fanbase actually LIKES. And that fondness evaporates the moment one of their cards hits the field.
Ive honestly had a bit of a emotional relapse on what for a very long time I called the many "cringe" fandoms- Transformers, MLP, Voltron, She-ra, Sonic, etc
While at times I personally dont consume the source media, the artists around them have made them so charming that I cant help but be swayed
Like the amount of fanart portraying all the MLP horses as burnt up lesbian crashouts in this like, child-actor-who-became-set-for-life a la "Bojack Horseman" setting is very very funny and charming. Transformers going from the-toy-selling-show to genuine political discorse is a compelling evolution

Though most people attribute that to the high-quality of the artwork already present in the game.
*reads fanfic*
Oh sweet Cybertron, not like that.

About the same amount of fanfiction has been written for Transformers as for Baldur's Gate (all games/D&D combined) in the past month.
Now my wife is checking all the ub's to see what the high score is 😂😂
... it's people horny for Astarion. Like the first 70something of the highest-kudos fics are all based around Astarion.
