I didn't like that the ring light which was supplied with my microscope was mains powered, so I took it apart. I'm glad I did! Crossing the mains neutral over the low voltage side to a tiny switch is very dodgy. I can't use this like this, it's not safe - ThreadSky

You better ignore my previous comment on your later post. That looks like awful construction. If you were to fix the low voltage tie to main, I wonder how well the transformer would stand up to a flash test.
