Maybe I’m missing something here but can the government short circuit an asylum claim simply by moving to dismiss a case? I know these are defensive claims but still seems like there’d be something impeding the termination of an ongoing claim without resolution
NEW: reports today from @l-toczylowski.bsky.social and others that ICE has begun efforts to dismiss cases pending in immigration court for less than two years — so that they can then immediately arrest the same people and put them through “expedited removal,” skipping the court process entirely.
