Just got back from Bordeaux where the centre of town is pretty much car free now, but frankly, the cyclists are a nightmare when you're walking round.

I cycle but also walk a lot in Paris. Many of the older bike lanes were created without any involvement of cyclists so they're horrible and were dangerous. Those were the areas where anyone on a bike who didn't want to be hit, would avoid and ride in the car lane. It's 100% legal for bikes to do.

It takes time for people to get used to changes. I spent a month in Lyon cycling across the centre every day. Not a single problem with traffic. Main risk, pedestrians not looking and high speed silent trotinettes

There could always be improvements for situations like this but i regularly have to avoid being run over by cars, much more than bikes in Paris. I see bikes targeted and plenty of them would be better but I never see cars targeted, even in places where cars regularly hit and kill pedestrians.

Tbh I’d ban electric scooters or licence them, they’re an absolute nightmare. They go incredibly fast and people seem oblivious to the speed.

This is INANE. Paris is vastly more easily navigated than any American city. What is wrong with these people? How does someone go to Paris and not marvel at how easy it is to get around and how uncongested it is? It's so bizarre. They want it to be like New York with 2 hours to go 10 miles?
