Linden: Can you imagine if Donald Trump had run on no tax on tips—but only for a few years, only up to a certain amount, and only in a particular set of industries? That’s not a particularly compelling slogan—but that’s what the policy is.

IDK I feel like if a MAGA voter feels that they can make anyone suffer by agreeing with all this even if it hurts them they are fine with it. Turns out brainwashing half the country into being hateful, abusive bullies hasn't turned out well for our culture as a whole. We make Pakistan look pleasant.
It’s stupid. The tips are declared on an “estimated” amount by the waitperson. Does Trump really think they
declare all their tips? Why don’t the rest of us get to declare our first $25,000 as free from tax?
Did they include Project 2025 plan to make overtime based on longer time periods, e.g., one week at say 45 hours but cut hours for the next week to 35, so no overtime?
Because this was in Project 2025. The Big Bullshit Bill is Project 2025 legislation.
I don’t know the details. Just know my friend and many of his coworkers who voted for Trump solely on the promise of no tax on overtime are pissed about how it played out.
I only tell him, “I told you so” once a week. He’s doing a pretty good job with his own regret over that and “no war” promise.
The problem with no tax on tips is that you wind up not contributing to Social Security. So down the road it will be a problem. It’s only for four years and probably won’t pass anyway
But the blonde brat in the WH says, "Have trust in Trump!"
And he has the big flagpole and when I'm seriously ill, I look at the flag and I feel better because they don't have that in Canada! Dr. Oz! You're so great, can I send you $2,000 from my savings? Ok,1000§ for Dr.Phil and the man with worm!🤪
From what I have read - it’s no tax on “cash tips”, I am a service worker, most declare a very small amount of their cash tips. Typical Trump and the gop, it is a nothing burger.
Retail prices should always factor in all costs and profit margin. Labor is a cost. Fucking pay your staff properly rather than letting them beg and perform for scraps from the kindness of strangers.
Considering that in the summer of 24 the Supreme Court ruled that if a bribe is paid *after* the action provided in exchange for the bribe - then technically the bribe is a gratuity.
Spoiler: Gratuity = Tip.
So trump is trying to make bribes tax free.
Since the GOP has sunk Biden’s requirements to pay overtime to those making under $46,000/yr there wont be overtime pay thus not taxed. See how that shit works folks?
Same for the social security and the overtime. People think they will get more in their check but they won’t it will be reconciled on their tax return when it’s filed next April.

TIPS ARE TAXED and in the form of a refund.
CASH tips are not
Who reports cash tips??
I researched & shared with her what it actually meant. Her response “You have your opinion. I have mine.”
Mine was not an opinion. Nice to have my research validated. Not that it made any difference.

Pay normal prices for things, ffs

TIPS.
Not another form of taxation to subsidize low pay.
What's the incentive to
give better service and deserve something more for giving something more, like excellent, friendly
service ?
myself going that extra mile, knowing
auto mechanics are crooks who charge too much and never get tipped.
We drank in a bar where the good looking girls made
more than the tradesmen after tips.
They didn't need 50k+ in tools and
a college education.
Pay your employees a living wage and do t expect me to make up the difference out of the kindness of my heart.
a large tip.
My patronage is the tip.

Seems devious.
Wealthy professionals (like lawyers, consultants, and hedge fund managers) may classify their fees as tips, thus avoiding tax obligations.
