There's a bit in Piers Anthony's novel On A Pale Horse where the protagonist has to travel through a realm where he's a pedestrian, bicyclist and driver and he's constantly vexed by how terrible all the other pedestrians drivers and bicyclists are, only to discover they're all him at different time.

This is why we need better street design! Bikers and pedestrians shouldn't have to fight for limited marginal space around an infrastructure dedicated primarily to car traffic! Every injury from a vehicle collision (including bike/pedestrian collisions) is a policy failure

We do this both ways in the Netherlands. Furious at car drivers when riding a bicycle, furious at bike riders when in the car. Furious at pedestrians when not pedestrian. Very affronted by all the other traffic when on foot. Maybe we’re just hangry.

I rode along Queen West for many years & this just makes sense.
I’ll never forget riding home to Parkdale from the bar I worked at downtown, on the night the Jays won the World Series (‘92 or ‘93, can’t recall which). That was a terrifying time to be on a bike… dodging flags held out car windows 😮‍💨

I also say this & I’m also in TO. I cursed a guy last night riding his bike at full speed on the sidewalk who came up on me on Lakeshore - there are bike lanes! Etobicoke has many sidewalk riding offenders. So much so I guess that they have signs all over reminding ppl that it’s against the bylaw.
