It's not even the Trump administration that im worried about per se, it's my fellow citizens and how easy it is for them to normalize bullshit and fold under pressure, folks are just going to straight up normalize authoritarianism like it's nothing.

Yeh. What's the word, hypernormalization? I think it was coined as an observation about how people tried and failed to cope with the shock doctrine in the post soviet world?
This worries me as well. You see how they said yes to fascism. Many are not going to resist. Many will acquiesce. I pray our communities in real life are strategizing.
People are tripping over themselves and pushing people out of the way in their rush to normalize and obey authoritarians, even before Trump is in office. Even worse and more sickening than I thought it would be.
Figure out how to live under a fascist dictatorship? Well z there's two ways. You either shut up and just accept whatever happens no matter how horrific, or you die.
A lot of people are going to do the latter no matter what happens.
We looked into it, but we’re too old to be desirable as working immigrants and we’re too young and don’t have enough money in the bank yet to be able to retire.
So many of y'all couldn't even be assed to vote, but I'm supposed to believe that you won't rat out your neighbor or colleague when the threat of prison or losing your livelihood is brought up?
Honestly what really bothers me the most is how many "independent" voters who "happened" to vote Republican refuse to acknowledge the last 8 years of outright lies and actual foul play.

How did not voting help? Do you think Trump will be any less of a willing participant in genocide? He wants to build hotels there after the genocide is complete. The Dems at least voted pretty consistently against more funding.
Yes it was a minority of them, which is why it passed but it was almost entirely Dems voting against it, and of course they lost. Basically 100% or republicans support aid to Israel and you’d only need a few dems to flip to pass it. I’m also sure it’s going to cost the dems who voted against it.
So you support genocide good to know 😂 glad democratic party is showing they are no different than maga. As long as you are safe that's all that matters 😂
I have too many vulnerable friends to wait for a perfect candidate. I felt that I needed to vote in the best interest of vulnerable populations in the US.
I don't support genocide, but not-genocide wasn't on the table. Someone who would push back or someone who will gleefully build hotels on their bones was on the table. I chose like always the lesser of two evils. If you're waiting for a perfect candidate, it's going to be a long time.
Yeah, cool. So that's still going to happen in Gaza, and now there's a much higher possibility that we'll have one here. We had a chance at breaking through to leadership before. How receptive do you think the Trumplicans are to a ceasefire?
No we didn't lol 🤣 She hasn't said she is done talking yet 😭 they rather lose the election then follow the law. They spent forever saying trump was a threat now they are gladly handing him the keys 😂 They said they don't want or need my vote.
I've been re-evaluating all my relationships by asking "How easily would this person have sold out Anne Frank?" I think a lot of folks would do it for a pound of coffee.
It took 12 hours after the election for my neighbors to organize and start yelling slurs outside of the queer coffeeshop. 2 days for them to wave nazi flags outside of a Diary of Anne Frank reading. Four years of this is terrifying
And at the same time, not realizing just how bad things could get. Concepts like 'unconstitutional' and '2 four year terms max' are no longer respected.
A military coup at this point would be an improvement.
Because billionaires have got everyone concerned with survival or making just enough. It’s easy to forget about govt that needs your attention when you need at least 1.5 occupations to make ends meet and get ahead. “Supremacy? Sure - as long as I can pay for …”
Some who I've seen interviewed even celebrated it as more convenient for them since they would be relieved of responsibility. No mention of the competence or empathy of the person to whom they entrusted the power.
This is a huge fear of mine, too. Americans really enjoy our comforts, and I think it’s far too easy for people in this country to choose comfort over resistance. We are too self-involved, too easily distracted, too afraid of being uncomfortable, and fascists will take advantage of that.
Take it from germans, after the fascist shitshow will have violently ended, everyone will claim to have been part of resistance.. (In ger 15% think their grandparents were part of resistance, while only 0,2% really were..) #Mitlaeufer
That's what's hit me so hard about this- that so many people looked at this traitorous bastard, listened to the horrors he and his henchmen spouted daily and said "Yup, he speaks for me".
A lot of his voters are just 'go red team!' which is dumb in its own way but not the same as a rabid maga guy. Still, someone who votes like that isn't gonna be much help
The degree of their fervor matters less than the simple fact that they were comfortable voting for an individual who is a demonstrated traitor, a known rapist and a convicted felon who could not have been more explicit about how he would wreck this country. And they STILL CHOSE HIM.

How did that work out for him? It didn't. And all it did was ruin people's lives.
Those same people now? Folding in on themselves like a wet paper bag.
A lot of people are going to do the latter no matter what happens.

It's utter horseshit
