I really ain't been right in the dome since November 2024, seeing how yall reacted and handled covid already had me fucked up but the last election just pushed me over the edge.

Truly. It's been relentless since 9/11 for me. Watching the worst attack in American history happen on live TV, being forced out of college during the financial crisis of 2008, electing this fucking moron on 2016, shoved inside in 2020, watching POTUS send a mob on Jan 6, and then 11/24. I'm tired.
Oh, let me top you on misery: Watching MLK, Jr’s murder, Malcolm X’s murder, RFK, Sr.’s murder, the Vietnam War with disrespect of Vets until 9/11, Agnew and Nixon’s resignations, the oil crisis of 1974, the crack cocaine epidemic/lifetime incarceration for addiction PLUS everything YOU experienced
I honestly wonder whether the bigger tragedy in 2001 was No Child Left Behind passing the house and senate in May and June. Not claiming anything, but that and 9/11 happening concurrently absolutely destroyed our nation, prevented everyone from talking about anything for awhile. National lobotomy.
Keep in mind most of us did Not vote for this. Krasnov is openly admitting on video the last presidential election was rigged, & then he won. Over 3 million+ votes thrown out, with no questions asked (which was insane). We know the people's votes thrown out voted for Kamala, she should have won
You’ll find that > 3 million votes in battleground states were disqualified- mail-in and provisional ballots. These largely in minority and urban communities.
This was enough to win or initiate at a minimum a recount.
Sad that it was this close but so was Bidens victory
You’re not alone. Despair and dismay don’t even scratch the surface of description. A few happy thoughts keep me going: A) If America ever loses, it’s NOT going to be to a guy like THAT! B) he’s too incompetent to succeed. C) 270,000,000 Americans DID NOT vote for this.
Yeah. Seeing empathy and common courtesy just tank and somehow be seen as undesirable is...it's a lot. Trust has been out of the window for some time now. And it sucks.
Was Rashida part of the abandon group? Naturally she was horrified with the dems re Gaza but the party deserted her. She works hard in her community. But overall reading that interview, I would be hard put not to slap that person.
Fck her.. she don’t care about Black people at all. If she did she would do everything in her power as a United States congresswoman to stop the white supremacist blueprint that is Project 2025. She allowed an overseas conflict to allow damage to her constituency domestically.
People are complicated, but that is a valid argument. We didn’t enhance our abilities to push back against our awful foreign policy there, we made our protests a target instead, at the hands of a lawless administration.
her and her sister were spearheads for it- calling for Detroit and Dearborn to abandon the Harris vote; and she never reigned in members who were screaming “vote for anyone else! even trump to send it home!”
Thank you for saying this. I feel so often like it's a secret I'm keeping. Weirdly the one time I feel slightly grounded is when I put on my mask before going into a building. Hanging on to this tiny thread of truth and decency. Thank you to everyone in the rest of the thread, too.
I have never been right since JFK assassination, Nixon’s bullshit, the Vietnam war, RFK, MLK, & Malcom X, assassinations, Jimmy Carter getting beat, Lying Reagan, Iran Contra, Reaganomics, Clinton impeachment, Bush v Gore, 9/11, the Great Recession, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street & Trump twice.
Seeing just about every positive notion you may have had about the USA evaporate into an idiot's stew of hatred, racism, and misogyny has indeed been deeply upsetting.
...and it's only the first 100 days.
Americans really came out and showed their whole selves between those two events, and those selves are just awful
I know there's a lot of people trying to do good amongst all this, but there's still so many that have gone full mask off, I cannot look at any of them the same way
I was so positive right up until then. I mean, okay, "so" is excessive, I still expect us to have 25 years or so at the outside as a civ, but I thought at least we were going to get another couple of years minimum of the decaying orbit we'd been on, not straight the fuck into the sun.
Whiteness.
The United States is infatuated with whiteness and the preservation of it. So much so that they were willing to throw democracy into the gutter in favor of it.
I'm just playing it by ear and making plans to flee if it comes to that.
Black folks owe this country nothing in return.
Wait until the next KKKLANdemic. They are not going to even try and fast track a vaccine. If it kills enough black folks that will be a bonus for them.

Weathering and moral injury cocktail.

"I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me."
I do, in part.
It's been hyper-vigilance and non stop PTSD since 11/24.
It must be quadruple bad for you.
I'm sorry.

It’s not just thousands, or tens of thousands. It’s millions of Americans needed to make this happen!

It's crazy to normalize this shit

And the contrasting per capita death rates tell the tale (for a number of reasons of difference b/t USA & Japan)
