A preview from my twice monthly paid subscription essays: It was stunningly relieving, clarifying when I realized that the work I needed to do live or die was the exact same work.

Kinda wild that we all get to pay taxes to fund a civil war against us

I think we, as leftists, have good ideas, and people seem generally more receptive to them than they’ve been in a long time. The trick for all of us who want to see those ideas spread is — to the greatest extent possible — not to be personally unpleasant about pushing for them

And the neuropsychiatric aftermath - depression, anxiety, exacerbated concentration and memory challenges, cognitive fatigue and even psychotic episodes are well known. & exacerbation when people have predispositions and histories

So ask yourself, did you see anything about this in the initial coverage of Brian Wilson’s death? And if not, why not? Its not coincidence. uk.news.yahoo.com/brian-wilson...

Man, these motherfuckers…the Santa Fe Springs swap meet is right down the street from where I lived in Norwalk. Swap meet is a whole thing. My gf and me went there after church sometimes. She was from Michoacán, got her citizenship under amnesty. Every vendor here is worth 100 ICE agents.

I may be getting this wrong, but it sounds like in SLC: - there were armed "men in vests" providing "security" - they saw a (presumably vestless) man with a rifle - one of the MIVs shot at him, and - killed someone else entirely www.sltrib.com/news/2025/06...

A good brunch with good weather and good people and good food at a spot with the right comfy vibe is one of the most fantastic things. Hate me if you must because I'm old, I've been through too much to engage in hardcore anything anymore - and I also do love brunch.

My grandmother-in-law always fussed at us about going outside in cold without gloves "You will get chilblains shatzika!" she would say in her heavy Hungarian accent, shaking her finger. We still say it to each other whenever it is cold out.

I wrote these thoughts on chronic time almost 10 years ago now, and have found the ideas of chronicity discussed below really insightful re something I was only gesturing towards. www.michellebastian.net/home/climate...

The fact that civilian leadership understands it can’t rein in the police without having their families physically threatened really is a democratic crisis.

For nearly a decade, since Election Day 2016, the media and politicians have had a choice: Recognize that we were in a crisis like no other in our lifetimes, or pretend that we aren't. Nearly all politicians, and too many in the media, have chosen the latter.

Good morning, my brothers. I send you greetings from Gaza, specifically from the Mawasi camp. A week ago, I planted two watermelon seeds, which are of the local variety designated for seed production. Please participate and donate. bit.ly/help-mohamed

After the assassination, murder, and attempted murder in Minnesota, the Dem governor — who was also reportedly also on the alleged killer’s hit list — urged his state’s people not to go out to the No King’s protest, fearing that the gunman would target them as well. People showed up in droves anyway
