Hello my friends, I send you greetings from Gaza. Today I cooked okra for the first time this summer, produced by my small farm. It was a good feeling to eat what your hands grew. Only farmers have experienced this feeling. Please share and donate if you can.

Hey y’all, I’ve been thinking about how fast things changed for all Latiné people in LA. And what I’ve personally done to protect myself and my family. I thought it might be helpful for some of you so thought I’d share. 🧵

I would like to be able to avoid quinoa more easily.

Me: - offers a paid subscription essay series with few followers that people unsubscribe from as I write deeper into liberation theology/psychology - keeps writing two essays every month for the 8 years and refuses to consider changing a single thing to appeal to others beyond my own interests

Hope is a practice of staying loyal to an image of a better world even when things are dire.

“Newsweek’s piece relates the shocking findings of a new RECOVER study: that up to 5.8 million American children now have Long COVID, making it the most common chronic illness affecting children.” Yet we allow them to continue being reinfected.

Trip home. Visiting (great) Grandma Roszie’s house

Our capacity to dream uptopic dreams is essential to the process of bringing any piece of that world into being, a necessary guide star, an instinctive compass (for there are no step-by-step instructions on this earth) for considering what our one next step might be.

"In its annihilative force and ambition, the Israeli campaign is unique among modern conflicts. In fact, the term 'war crime' is not even adequate for what's happening in Gaza." A searing, essential piece by Suzy Hansen:

As a 60 year old over half of the relevant contextual lived history of my life has never been uploaded.

It's pretty irritating how many pundits would hear the ideas "I want to shove 100 live scorpions in your mouth" and "I want to shove 0 live scorpions in your mouth" and sagely declare: "The wisest course of action is to let someone shove 50 live scorpions in your mouth."

Kids should not face a "future of increased exposure to known threats such as wildfire smoke, COVID-19 and measles...their vulnerability would demand investment." - @flannerydean.bsky.social www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

“We ought to live as we believe we should live in a liberated world. Such endeavor is by necessity condemned to fail and to meet opposition The most important form this will take today is resistance.” ~ Theodor W. Adorno

I remember watching Ananda on MTV. She died at 52 from a preventable & treatable form of cancer bc she worried mammogram radiation would give her cancer. She then declined treatment when diagnosed, which she regretted when it was too late. The “wellness” industry is literally scaring people to death

I object on aesthetic and maybe quasi-moral grounds to language like “devout” and “deeply religious” in this context. If his fanaticism adhered to a different faith, he’d get “fanatic,” “extremist,” “zealot” etc. Perverting the Cross to commit murder exempts you from “devout”

“Ancient” instead of, disproven, wrong, false, erroneous, fallacious, inaccurate, misguided, mistaken, wrongheaded, unscientific, delusional, anachronistic, Is a fucking dangerous editorial choice.

I blocked that dude as soon as he popped up on here because he was just always full of corrosive bile. The back story makes it all make sense.

Mother to child transmission of HIV is completely preventable with antiretroviral drugs. We cannot go back to the 80s and 90s of the HIV epidemic.

I haven’t seen nearly enough people talking about this. The levels of greed and inhumane thinking on display is actually terrifying. America really is dystopian as fuck.

cryptoendorsing Andrew Cuomo to lead the city he hates and doesn’t live in is the kind of disqualifyingly bad opinion that should ensure that no one listens to you on anything ever again

A preview from my twice monthly paid subscription essays: It was stunningly relieving, clarifying when I realized that the work I needed to do live or die was the exact same work.

Kinda wild that we all get to pay taxes to fund a civil war against us

I think we, as leftists, have good ideas, and people seem generally more receptive to them than they’ve been in a long time. The trick for all of us who want to see those ideas spread is — to the greatest extent possible — not to be personally unpleasant about pushing for them

And the neuropsychiatric aftermath - depression, anxiety, exacerbated concentration and memory challenges, cognitive fatigue and even psychotic episodes are well known. & exacerbation when people have predispositions and histories

So ask yourself, did you see anything about this in the initial coverage of Brian Wilson’s death? And if not, why not? Its not coincidence. uk.news.yahoo.com/brian-wilson...

Damn.

Man, these motherfuckers…the Santa Fe Springs swap meet is right down the street from where I lived in Norwalk. Swap meet is a whole thing. My gf and me went there after church sometimes. She was from Michoacán, got her citizenship under amnesty. Every vendor here is worth 100 ICE agents.

I may be getting this wrong, but it sounds like in SLC: - there were armed "men in vests" providing "security" - they saw a (presumably vestless) man with a rifle - one of the MIVs shot at him, and - killed someone else entirely www.sltrib.com/news/2025/06...
