These comments by Streeting are disgraceful. The safety of a senior female politician has been put at risk; let alone that she's been grotesquely defamed.

I agree completely, I nearly had a fit when I heard this mealy mouthed excuse for a politician uttering these weasel words. It's about time he and his colleagues grew a pair and stood up to these fascist hatemongers
Desperate for the cash and US private medicine to make him look good short term as he destroys the NHS for ever. Must be expecting a fantastic donation.
I get those making the point that the government ‘need’ to be nuanced, but ultimately it boils down to your point.
Given the direct role X and Musk played in inflaming violence in the summer, Streeting should have forcefully backed his colleague against a torrent of defamatory online attacks.
Streeting believes in the image of Musk? He is an idiot if he cannot see that Musk is clearly not to be trusted. Musk is near enough clinically insane in my book. The only proper response is an evidenced rebuff of the claims that Musk has made. The best form of defence is attack.
Obviously Musk has no constructive role to play. Labour should not be 'willing to work with him'. Saying it shows weakness. I could understand saying nothing at all in response more than these ridiculous comments.
Streeting's comments strike me as something he has been advised to say by someone like a Hostage Negotiator ?
Which makes sense, because he's basically commenting about someone who appears to have some high degree of influence on the President of the United States, but who also appears to
Being generous to Streeting, he's likely to be the duty minister today who is required to say *something* on account of the fact the Gov't isn't back to work until Monday. But I'm surprised No10 didn't give him a harder line to run with. Unless, of course, they chose not to 😉
I heard an R4 interview with Streeting where he said he wanted to be PM. He felt there was no point in being in politics unless you actively aspired to, and worked towards, the top. Combine that with his healthcare insurance lol nks, and it's enough to mean he should be blocked from advancing higher
Yes. Not a team player do off he should go. Starmer needs to be as ruthless with his rats as Thatcher was with her wets like Francis Pyn. Streeting is the woodworm in this Cabinet and leaking like a burst pipe.
Cowardice. It’s just Cowardice, and it has happened because the UK has been left weak and insignificant thanks to years of corruption, misplaced exceptionalism, and the turd in the punch bowl: Brexit.
I think he said this before musk tweeted his reprehensible tweet on Jess. Tbf we should just ban X as the most dangerous source of misinformation for malevolent reasons by a foreign state
Not sure if you read my other post. There's one tweet about Jess Phillips from Weds, 2 days before this quote from Streeting. And another from the same day [which may or may not be before Streeting's quote was taken.]
What utter utter utter stupidity ! Musk hasnt ’Misjudged’ anything he’s being pandered to and Streeting is losing quite quickly what support I might have had !
For what it's worth, I don't think we should be making any warm noises about him after what he's said over the past year - from the AfD to the UK riots.
I also don't trust Streeting

Try it, and you'll see what I mean.
Appeasement, that's all it is. Do people realise these 'people' do not play by any rules, except their own.

So they're having to 'talk him down off the ledge' ?
before Musk singled out Jess Phillips
