Been spending time with the Exit Polls over the past few days, and the thing I can't stop looking at. At least here, in these exits, the election was tied a week out and late deciders broke decisively to Trump.

The only harsh lesson to be gleaned from this is nothing new & has always been the most obvious - never sack your own quarterback. Biden had already defeated trump bcuz he was always the better man. Who knew that supporting your own 🥶candidate could pay off so well?!🥶
I would love to know what media or social media appeals these ppl were responding to. Hopefully some interviews will be done soon. Probably more low info voters like the ones who voted for both AOC & Trump, as if they were similar.
I don’t think they were late deciders. They were first time voters and silent Trumpers. I never saw Trump signs on lawns till the week before the election. They ere everywhere and turned my guts to oh no.m
The thing that’s got me is Trump got almost the same or fewer votes than 2020. But Kamala, for all the Swifties and GOP crossovers and huge rallies and momentum finished with almost 20M fewer votes than Biden. The turnout issue is baffling.
The entirety of US media decided to treat Biden’s garbage comment as a major gaffe and major gift to Trump. It wasn’t but that’s the reality they wanted to create, and they did just that. Fox had it going 24/7. The rest of the media both-sides it to death. It was everywhere.
I just can’t believe that if you voted for Trump, you decided to do that in the last week. Not honestly. Trump was a mess in the last week. Absolute mess. That’s when he said he wouldn’t mind journalists getting shot. If you voted for that, you had previously decided.
The Trump campaign spent the last 2 weeks winning the whole election circus (the media, the pundits, the stunts, the energy, the outrage, the jokes) all focused on him. The Democrats took the bait. The undecided are always the weakest link: of course they fell for it.
Just as in 2016, the Trump team's closing weekend commercials were fresher and simpler. "Biden/Harris broke it. Trump will fix it." Our side never persuaded the country of the true story, which was COVID broke it and Biden fixed it. Harris was great! But Trump's team won the messaging war.
Team Trump knew what they were doing with the MSG Nazi rally. This country isn’t what you many of you hoped it was. I don’t see how we come back from this outside of a global war and depression precipitated by the MAGA GOP, leading to a complete burn down and rebuild of the country.
And where will the money come from to bring America back from the ashes? The world is not going to rescue us with a Marshall Plan when the voters were dumb enough to bring it on themselves.
Seems a lot of folks feigning wonder here. The answer is obvious.
The media made Biden’s garbage comments the major story in the final days. Fox ran it 24/7. The rest of the media both-sides it to death. Every single regional/local newspaper had it as a top story. It was absurd.
Musk/Trump deploying military grade disinformation via variety of ads sent to micro targeted audiences in combination w campaign efforts. Particularly at D voters on fence. Effectively suppressed Harris vote in last week/s. WaPo did great piece. Will attach.
Yes, plus they put up a zillion signs with the "Trump Low Prices/Harris High Taxes" that low info voters saw on the way to the polls just before and on election day. I assume Musk payrolled all of that too.
Plouffe’s comments were before the data hit on the impact of media’s contrived hysteria surrounding Biden’s garbage comments. Plouffe’s tone changed massively in his final 2 interviews right before the election. That was obvious.
It wasn’t just Plouffe … I recall seeing an independent publicly reported poll (don’t remember which one) that had late deciders breaking for Harris by a 10% margin.
I figured they’d break away from Trump in the end. I’m not so sure they broke toward him. Maybe they always intended to vote for him, and said otherwise to pollsters? Doesn’t make sense to break for him as he went bonkers the last 2 weeks.
Right-but the left threw Biden & Harris under the bus signaling a rapturous vote of note-confidence. On the other side trump's voters never abandoned him to nearly the same extent. AND,,,,I'm still waiting on the complete forensics on this electoral outcome. Republicans are habitual cheaters.
Repubs always stick with the pack. Going after Liz Cheney voters was bound to fail. I met many people in NJ recently who said they hate Trump personally but felt they hd to vote for him because he was republican. Dems don’t have that benefit of doubt.
Cheney joined HER-so campaigning together was the only next logical step. She welcomed Haley voters also organically & without persuasion. I've met many many many people myself and they ALL say that her campaign strategy was not the issue at all even a little bit. They don't buy it & neither do I.
I thought going after Cheney voters was sharp. But repubs virtually all vote with the tribe. I’ve met many repubs who admit they hate Trump but voted for him anyway. Silver lining - trump’s support is skin deep (or makeup deep).
FairPlay. Dems should've done what Repubs did & voted with the tribe-even if the loyalty was only transactional & skin deep-the outcome would've benefitted all Americans down to the bone.
Plouffe knew. They all knew the last few days as data came in about Biden’s garbage comments.
The media made Biden’s comments the major story in the final days. It was such bullshit, but it’s exactly what happened. Fox ran it 24/7 and the rest of the media both-sides it to death.
Only thing I’d say in addition: this country is more misogynistic than racist (though it IS both), and the fact that Kamala Harris is both a woman AND minority doomed her despite her being infinitely more qualified and better in every way
Key q'n is what were social dynamics that resulted in a higher turnout of white voters compared to black voters ? How much did Trump/GOP fascist schadenfreude and DARVO with threats of violence to out-groups create this ?
Just stopped to get gas in rural Az if they spent 5 min in a places like this they'd know the work they had to do. All trump everywhere. It was a little scary
The Harris campaign went to red areas of PA and other states to dampen the advantages there. In the end, it was a chunk of the Dem base not showing up that hurt. Why? We'll be finding out over the next few months but there is no excuse for it from voters.
Right? Living in my blue (conservative!) town in CA it was shocking and it felt unsafe to see the MAGAs in the wild. Something is really fucked up in our country. Decline of patriarchy is my bet.
Decline of white folks, mostly.
Decline of the patriarchy, yes. (Cuts across the races and ages)
Too much right wing propaganda? Definitely.
Too many people who have no idea what's going on? Totally.
It felt to me like the Harris campaign changed as soon as they onboarded David Plouffe. Not only did he get all the polling wrong, I noticed Tim Walz pulling back from the "weird" commentaries. I'm sure there were more fatal errors than that, but those were two I noticed.
More like it was the media covering up him blowing the microphone. No one saw it. It should have been front page news and on everyone’s lips while they were headed to the polls. Including all the other bad stuff about 🍊that they swept under the rug

We were told, and I completely believe, that there were few undecideds. It was potential Harris voters actually voting, vs. not voting.
The data supposedly showed undecideds breaking for Harris, so something is wrong somewhere.
Or they wanted to punish the incumbent party.
Fox ran with Biden’s garbage comments 24/7 for the final week. Every other media org both-sides it to death. All local media then hopped on board.
End of story.
End of story.
It wasn't the trump ground game.
