Opinions were mixed. There was consensus on some scenarios about justifying violence to prevent harm. But other questions were messier.

Thought provoking exercise. I have more questions now…

I wonder how/if the answers would differ if this was done with different groups of people (thinking of people at the other end of the political spectrum). And how closely a person’s answers would match their actions.

Totally valid questions. I wondered the same thing if I gave the survey to another group, or just opened it and made it public. And you’re right that someone’s stated answers might not match their actual behavior.

And there are so many other possible scenarios to consider.

I tried to think of something anthropology students from Boston might consider sacred, since we’re a fairly secular place. Stonehenge came to mind.

That makes sense. I figured the audience mattered. Personally, despite being an archaeologist, I wouldn’t commit violence over an archaeological site. But 🤷‍♀️
