I don't think I would trade Kyle Tucker if I had him. I also wouldn't trade him for Luis Gil as the centerpiece. But I guess these aren't your older brother or sister's Astros anymore, either.

Proven all-star isn't really a thing though when a) it was a single selection and b) he was the Rays representative when he was. Bryan LaHair was an all-star for example
Paredes definitely has more value now. You are also looking for the upside of Shaw or Smith as well. Houston doesn’t want just MLB players for a Tucker or Valdez type talent. They want both ready and potential.
Nah, the second he let Bagwell convince him to get high on his own supply, we were cooked. Luhnow’s unethical, ruthless behavior ran off all the best talent (Elias, Sig, et al) & then Crane’s misplaced ego cost us James Click, & it’s been downhill into a pool of dudebro “muh instincts n grit” since
As an Orioles fan, we love how he rebuilt the team, but Elias has not signed a good free agent yet? He finally has an ownership group with resources to do so. It’s early, but we will see if he can complete the process of winning a championship and being able to get the requisite veterans necessary.
In fairness, the veterans he helped bring into Houston were mostly via trade before the Astros established themselves as actual postseason contenders. The O’s are close.
I do really wish you guys would sign Bregman and put him somewhere though. He very clearly needs a data heavy front office to be a top tier player again, and who better than the group that made him that to begin with?
Trades and extensions right? Like I said it’s early. But, windows can shrink pretty fast in the AL East. As you can see, the Yankees are retooling and the Red Sox look very good and the rays always find a way to compete. The Blue jays are looking to spend and are no slouch.
Luis Gill + # 5 MLB prospect Jasson Dominguez + # 73 MLB Prospect Spencer Jones, would get them in the conversation. I would prefer 3 bats, Astros have 4-5 needs in hitting and getting 3 of those covered would be incredible. If Chas bounces back some, then that is one less spot to worry about
it’s tough because while trading sounds insane, if they know they cant re-sign him, letting him walk for free instead of trying to plug their many holes w a trade also feels wrong, idk
Luis Gil is a good start and better value than QO compensation next year. The Yankees would need to give more because of how good a player they would receive from a clear playoff rival. The competition for his services would increase the price as well.

We have been spoiled, this franchise will be fine.
Maddening to see the system and not sign Tucker.
