Ok cool. Should I just off myself now or wait until the community health center I have to go to because there are no doctors runs out of funding? I have PTSD. They help me not off myself.
they make your brain not remove serotonin from your synapses as quickly as it should, resulting in a better mood due to the greater activity of serotonin.
I didn’t even stop taking depression medication. I just switched from 1 med to another, getting off SSRIs was one of the hardest most mentally uncomfortable things I’ve ever had to go through. I could not control my emotions for weeks. I’d start crying and not know why. I was miserable.
TBF, if you're having trouble not shooting people you should probably be on an anti-psychotic, not an SSRI, but yeah. Getting rid of SSRIs would deregulate a lot of people which would have dire consequences. More likely to the person taking the SSRIs than to the general public.
I’m someone who has been on a high dosage of SSRI’s for a VERY long time (20 of my almost 30 years) and I don’t need them at this point but I’m stuck with them bc getting off of them now is not easy and also dangerous and I’m very scared that if access is cut I will have a Very Bad Time
I assume that since you're still getting the prescription, you have a doctor who can help you taper safely, right? I've been on SSRIs for even longer and have had times where I tried to get off or tapered and it was VERY difficult but still possible.
I plan to someday! I’m waiting for a good opportunity where I can be more flexible with work, which also means saving up some money in case I’m out for a bit here and there. Also not quite ready yet mentally, although if things keep going this direction I might have to do it sooner rather than later
I'm in a similar position. I've had to taper down on benzos to almost nothing when I had been put on an irresponsibly large dose since my early teens... Every night, for sleep. And that was nasty.
I owe a lot to SSRIs and continue to but I hope to taper too when I can. Good luck.
It's not like anyone in the US has reason to be upset about the state of things. It's not like CEO are getting gunned down in the street and people are responding "If he didn't want to be shot, he shouldn't have fucked over so many people."

I don’t mean that as a threat, I really mean I don’t know what I’ll do.
Last time I felt good, walked through the door to my house, sat down and started screaming while I tore threads out of the rug.
I used to rip my hair out.
