I really wish the state of the country and world was such that "paving the White House rose garden" isn't just something you scroll past amongst the horrors.

As a fledgling gardener who follows SEVERAL groups to improve, I can tell you that gardeners are an untapped voting bloc. Quit asking nominees for their fav Bible verse, start asking which species of rose they most admire. The troops will rally.
He’s turning the White House into mar lago. Tacky dollar store gold accents inside, paving the rose garden & putting a ballroom on the grounds are just the beginning. He doesn’t plan on leaving. So we have to make sure he does.
It makes me sick every time I think about it. I hope one of the first orders of business of the next administration, however unimportant it may be in the grand scheme of things, is to restore the heirloom rose garden.
Do you remember, "Climb under your desk," nuclear drills? Too bad, Ms "We're all gonna die," wasn't around. I bet she would have made an excellent guidance counselor.
They pretended to care about kids(ish), right up until Columbine. Crickets & prayers ever since. Worst timeline ever.
I grew up near an uninhabited island in the Chesapeake bay. Navy used to bomb 3-4x a week. Plus I had awful, toxic family & I was super sensitive. It would always upset me when the house would shake & the windows rattle. I was met with “it’s the Russians”. What happened? How did we forget?
Hi! Fellow Gen X'r here!
I vividly remember drills in school. I lived in between an airforce and a navy base. Munitions testing was CONSTANT. I still live in the area - when they do munitions testings, I get horrible anxiety. Toxic family? Yep! But, I did have some amazing friends.
just imagine. we could have simply voted for kamala harris and if she had decided to pave over the white house lawn (WHICH SHE NEVER WOULD) that would have been the only news story this entire year
I'm Irish but even I recognise it's just another way to disrespect America. I'm sure the fact JFK was a Democrat had no bearing on this petty but appalling act 🙄
Me too. But the cement patio he's putting in CAN be torn out and a rose garden CAN be replanted. So, sadly, it just doesn't make the top 100 of my list of things I'm concerned about right now.
I'm choosing not to get worked up about it because it's super easily undone by the next sane person to live there. These are the skills I have learned since 2017!
It’s exhausting. A literal insurrection at the capitol has been all but written off, even by the victims themselves. I’m constantly amazed at the power of ideology.
Last time he ripped out the roses and flowering crabapple trees around the border. He wanted better sightlines for the cameras when he held the RNC convention there.
It’s just so grotesque and unnecessary (and I have room in my heart to be mad at them for all the things at once, believe me!). Makes me feel sick to my stomach
I heard him talking about women’s stilettos sinking in the lawn. Good grief, not only are stilettos not appropriate for outdoor wear but there are actually removable caps for heels for exactly this scenario. Nothing he says makes sense to me
It will be one of the things easily restored when this nightmare is over. Trust in #America and regaining respect around the world, on the other hand, will take decades.

Just like Donnie refusing to hang Obama’s portrait. He is a petty little man with no impulse control
$100 million for a garden?
had the entire Jackie
Kennedy Rose Garden
uprooted
It was replaced by shrubs,
just hedge & lawn
/During Dump 1.0
That is worthy of tears & mention repeatedly.
Another disgrace for the list.
