On the other hand-across numerous settings I’m seeing writing as the limiting factor for progress across every key stage.
I suppose the point is I think this is an issue to solve and outside of the CR remit as far as I understand
Have taken this to be about examples of how to implement and looking at case studies within a framework rather than putting a curriculum in per se.
I just see them as different strands but do think communication needs to be clearer
The Reading Framework was very clearly set out as meeting expectations of the curriculum. One presumes the writing will be similar
All the more reason for it to be foolish to bring out guidance in advance of that, to my mind
I remain optimistic!
And in and case, how can delivery of the curriculum in a key area be outside the remit of the review?
Limiting in the sense that majority of cohorts I’m seeing across roughly 50 primary schools suggest that now many children are secure in RM and not W; not a historic pattern at all
Meh.
It’s just interesting when I look at this from an all-through perspective and the same Primary pupils then go on to our secondary schools where accountability measures are so weighted to this.
It’s never the driver but is a key consideration
1) The excellent delivery of reading, writing and maths has already been set out in the terms of reference of the curriculum & assessment review.
2) Given the review is a year long, it’s unreasonable to expect the government to do nothing on education in that time frame.
I suppose you could call that a curriculum if you want to, but it’s an odd definition.
You might think that a good thing... But as I say: when you're about to move all the deckchairs, it seems unwise to add more.

1) that any change I made had a very high likelihood of making things better for those kids
2) that the opportunity cost of change certainly wouldn't make things worse for those kids well served.
But curriculum guidance documentation is cheap. And curriculum is one of the better functioning bits!
