yeah, my mom bought a $500 Caprice Brougham in the early 2010s that would've cleaned up very nicely if we'd had the $5000+ it needed to be a reliable daily driver. Dry rot is no joke (and what finished the poor thing off).

I had a new Century wagon then. I was newly divorced with a 2 year old, and it died right after purchase. They rebuilt the engine, and it died again in a snow storm. After selling it back, they said their quote was incorrect and gave me $1K less. I vowed never to buy another American made car again.
