I always check the classification societies status (which can be found in Equasis) because they have delegated responsibility from the flag state. Data shows classing is still with Indian Register (normally very up-to-date) showing management from a company in Chennai. Focus on class society too.
A fellow engineer! Indian Register is a bit behind on this one. @imohq.bsky.social GISIS lists the vessel as flagged unknown since May. This is consistent Djibouti’s policy of deflagging sanctioned vessels. And the vessel isn’t broadcasting the flag of the country that class says it’s registered to.
Yes, indeed! Normally as soon as any ship is deregistered by a flag state without a replacement, members of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) automatically suspend class. It’s odd that this hasn’t happened, which is a question for the usually efficient IRClass to answer
