Me too- but I often use this to tell them it’s arbitrary and they should ALSO take the regular maths seriously ( does anyone else have the over confident types who don’t work for the single maths?)

The (further maths) students that jump straight to the challenge question EVERY TIME. Take ages on it, so get maybe no other questions done. Do mediocre in tests. I have a little rant. Repeat.

Or they jump straight to the last question, can't do it, then ask for help! Err, maybe try building up to it with the easier ones first... 😏

Oh yes… I often talk about elite athletes- do they skip the warm up? The repetitive exercises? ( been thinking of talking to sport psych for cpd😉)

I was having this rant the other day! Unless you are getting full marks on every maths assessment then you shouldn’t be over confident! They tend to be the worst at ‘show that’ questions because they struggle showing all the workings!

It's strange that all 3 rules used to be in maths, then they moved 2 to further but left the other in maths 🤷‍♀️
