You might like my Scabbers book series. Lots of strong women at various ages. 7 free shorts stories & 1 full-length novel($4.99). And trust me, you get lots of tough ladies in those free short stories.
It would be really awesome! What I also love is the fact that many have pointed out that Daisy Ridley resembles Sigourney Weaver, so she could be a perfect young Ripley. Now both of them are in the Star Wars universe!
I want more 30+ all women & and I want plots those are not so focused on romantic and physical relationships with men or anyone really and instead about sisterhood, community, friendship and so on.
The movie's pretty old, but Auntie Mame is on Tubi and the title character is an absolute icon. Rosalind Russell at 51, reminding us all why she's one of the best to ever do it.
(Yuki Shimoda's performance as Ito is a bit much, but at least it's better than Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's)
I thought it was so funny (in a cynical, sad way) when SPECTRE was coming out and the marketing was like, "look Monica Bellucci is in it as the first OLD (50, lol) Bond Girl! We're so progressive!" And then she's in the movie for about 4 minutes and hidden in shadow for a good chunk of it.
AGREED. I just finished watching Queen Charlotte and I was pretty struck by how beautifully it portrayed powerful, complex older women. The younger versions of the female characters are featured as well as their older selves. Loved seeing the ways they develop and crystallize over the decades.
Have you seen Happy Valley? Catherine Cawood is a detective near retirement age who kicks aas then goes home to take care of her grandson. It's brilliant.
That much I knew. We're Brit TV fans in this house and get a lot of them through PBS streaming. It's too bad that so many don't know what they're missing.
A lot of people either can't afford streaming or they don't have high speed internet that can do it, especially in rural places. That's something that we want changed, but our right-wing doesn't want to pay for it.
I adored Lin Shaye’s work in the ‘Insidious’ films. I remember cheering at her return in the second film and then seeing Elise evolve into a fully-formed badass.

Don't forget Maggie Smith. She may have passed, but her bazillion roles have not.
And if you have not seen Emma Thompson talking about women & body image, you must ASAP

Alison Janney as LOU.
It's the best take on that whole
"retired black-ops assassin dragged back into the action by demons from her past"
thing I've seen...maybe ever.
The intensity and heart she brings to every scene...PERFECTION.
