I have lived in New York all my life, and I understand that completely. It had not had a decent snowstorm in years, and when it does snow, it comes and goes after a few days. There's more rain, there is snow. That said, it is not hard to dislike it once I am out.
Literally! Not even 30 years ago we were getting enough snow to completely cover our CARS. It's wild to me that people forget how much things have changed in such a short time.
I live in northern Indiana, where we get the legendary "lake-effect snow". Not anymore. I bought a snowblower a few years ago & have used it approximately twice a year.
For sure. I grew up in central TX where it doesn't snow much to begin with but we still used to get several days with at least a few inches, maybe even a snow day or two. Now it snows maybe once a year in January if at all. And winter used to be cold. It did actually freeze. Not so much anymore.
I think its because you get to see the difference as you probably live in an area where snowfall is borderline, where just a couple of degrees make the difference between heavy snow and no snow - I live over in Northern Ireland and it would regularly snow, I have not seen snow in 2 years now...

Winters in Chicago back in the 90s when it still snowed.
I miss the good old days.
It'll be too late.
