Won't be playing Nightreign, I'm not sure it's really for me, but I'm glad FromSoft are doing something new and fun. I think I have sufficiently proven that I can run all the way to that fight I keep losing for some reason only to lose again for probably the same reason which I could figure out by running and losing more. But that gameplay loop is for people who enjoy running and losing. I have better things to do

yeah the concept of playing Elden Ring but its even harder, even more boss-oriented, and you are discouraged from taking your time and playing slowly if youre struggling, And you basically need to be playing with friends--it all does not enthuse me. but im glad its resonating with some folks

i actually really enjoy open world games. GTA vice city stories (not the original, though that's good too) is one of my all-time favorite PS2 games. but i just don't think soulslikes really fit into that model. i tried so hard with elden ring but it just didn't feel right at all.

I liked the open world well enough, but the boss design and such singlehandedly bumped From games into "wait for patches and a price drop" territory for now, minimum.
(Which is good practice anyway, of course)

it's a roguelike. your games only last about 30 minutes, then nearly everything resets.

clair obscur had me losing an entire day to it and literally hoping that the game wouldn't end and had more to it.

I appreciate both for what they offer, but I don't think you will miss much.

When I went through Clair Obscur I pretty much did a 100 percent playthrough and that took me about 70 - 80 hours altogether if that puts things into scope for you !

I've beaten ER twice and tbqh it's probably one of my least favorite soulsbornes. NG+ is especially tedious with the constant horsey rides to the next boss. Great they made money but I don't want to see them make more open world games, and I definitely don't care for whatever Nightreign is going for
