Moana 2 is fine. Basically a rehash of everything that was good about the original with very forgettable music. Lin-Manuel Miranda passed on working on it, apparently. It needed him badly imho to add some heart. Kiddo had a good time, though—all that matters. - ThreadSky

Maybe if we all agree as a group to refuse to spend money on any movie with another movie's title in its title, we can get movies that take risks again.

Too bad that won't happen. Too many of us are happy to give away money to see how shiny the latest turd got.

We would all have to do it for it to mean anything. If they went a few years investing in garbage and made next to no money, they would start to be interested in what they're doing wrong.

Test audiences are dumb af. They take general audiences for all movies, instead of focusing on a core audience. This is why all movies need to be bland enough that anyone could watch them. Producers routinely underestimate our intelligence and it never hurts them financially.

If you want better movies, the only thing to change it is to break the stranghold that a handful of studios have on all intellectual property. There is no mechanism by which original ideas can reach theaters other than submitting to the mouse.

yes, watched it with my Mom who is a big fan, had a little bit trouble sit through it, maybe a 3.5/5. However, bought a ticket for Wicked, just out of curiosity, man that movie blew me away, the songs were just insanely good. plus the characters are likeable. wonderful, looking forward to part2.

It was intended to be a Disney+ show, but when they realized that streaming is a bottomless pit of debt, they pivoted to theatrical release. Very very few movies that have to pivot mid-production ever find their feet.

I’m scared this is gonna end up trickling down into having Zootopia 2 being mid af. The first one was a good 8.5-9/10 for me (Mostly because Nick was just such a good character) and I’m hoping they don’t spit on it.
