You cannot appeal to public sentiment by shaping reality in such a way that it cannot be twisted around when it comes to these news outlets.
I can think of 2 UK examples of immigration related protests that didn't exactly win over the nation - at least judging by the twitter-
If the actions required to inflict friction on ICE are unpopular, then there's no amount of not doing those actions that will make the movement popular enough to motivate those actions.

The point is holding the streets is a means not an end.
It comes from a completely different information environment and is focused on businesses rather than activist movements.

Thats not a protest though. Thats an insurgency with hopes of a civil war and you should decide early on which of the two you are doing because they have very different approaches.
