Taiwan needs to start laying millions of anti equipment mines on the outskirts of any beach that could be used for a naval landing. China intends to avoid artillery/rocket scatterable mines with their landing ships so lay the mines higher on the beach and have walkways so people can use the beach.

Whilst they might be conducting exercises - why would they telegraph how they intend to do it. That would be giving the game away unless they are so bold to think that they will be unchallenged. Russian courage perhaps.
