Is what is recommended on the rippers site
OpenAudible charges for some of its features like conversion, but no matter what you *will* have a backup of all the books you've purchased on Audible, free and unconnected from Audible.
Converting to new formats costs extra.
So the free version will still get you off of Audible, no problem.

All using FOSS tools. Granted, not the friendliest approach but it has worked wonders for me after Audible removed audiobooks from my library
