me and the guy who towed my flat-tire car agreeing the AAA chatbot screwed up everything (address, year of my car, like there wasn't much to screw up yet...) & that chatGPT was making the world worse & "god forbid you actually talk to a human"
I have so many interactions like this in person in daily life, either just talking about how awful this shit is or a specific instance of it failing, and I swear "it's just weirdos on bluesky" is a psyop from AI companies.
I kept looking for this article because I was seeing this shit and I was like "the only surveys I know of rather than anecdotal shit say the opposite, that the public is much more in line with bluesky's skepticism and antipathy than not". Thanks, have it bookmarked.
That’s a big question! I think focusing on *how* things are built is more important than just hoping for improvement. A solid foundation matters, and that’s why I appreciate the principles behind this network. 😊
This particular piece is funny because what it actually shows is that normal people have an unrealistically negative view about a subject they know little about while experts have a much more optimistic view
But how Bluesky will interpret that is, "see, the public rightfully hates AI just like us!"
The American public's careful consideration of and respect for science is responsible for the resurgence of diseases which were virtually eradicated by vaccines, but, yeah, let's pay attention to their opinions on AI. 40-60% believe ghosts and demons are things that exist in the real world, FFS.
It's called techno because for most of my life - I was literally born at the same time as integrated circuitry - people disliked, frustrated with computers. Not so much now, 67 years later. TechNO has become TechYEAH

Also it's fun to point out all the AI haters that then defer to articles written by AI experts when those experts point out issues with AI :P
