That's every time I start a game with my friend, even worse if it's also has a voice option. Took him 3 hours to make a character to then start a game, and its eyes were the wrong blue and the voice a little high...
I like to do the opposite sometimes. Make my character so distractingly ugly I forget to pay attention to the opening cutscene and immediately start over.
If I ever have to play a multi-player game that has various character customization options with friends, I gotta play solo for a few hours just to get my character the way I want lol
No worries, character creation is soon to be a thing of the past, at least in the US. Trumps government can't allow you to possibly create a non-binary character of any color.
Spent 3 hours making my Dragon's Dogma 2 Arisen, started the game-- realized I fucked up her height so she has the head of a 20-something year old woman on the body of a small child and the walk cycle of a 1920s cartoon character
This is why I personally play random- roleplaying, not fantasy fulfillment. My BG3 character was an ugly little hobbit and I bust a gut everyone flirted with them and called them hot. But it compelled me to role play as weird looking but confident guy and by the end of the game I had fucked a squid.
I like that perspective on it!!
I wish I could but my play style is like "what if I self insert but I'm a hot elf"
The fantasy escapism has me in a chokehold 😭😭😭
to add onto this, trying (and failing) to convince yourself that “it’s fine. it’s fine! it doesn’t bother me i’ll just live with it it’s ok no im sorry it’s not fine im not ok with it i gotta wipe the save god dammit”
THIS!!!! LIKE my character was color balanced in all the lighting in the customization screen...tell my why she was green tinted in the first cut scene 😭
This is why I am SO glad that Monster Hunter has started letting you change the lighting in the character creator. It helps a lot when seeing how makeup looks especially in lower lighting situations.
Yeah the UI was a little jank definitely. I constantly had to go in and out of it to get to find where I wanted to go until like the third go around. Still appreciated all the options it had compared to previous titles so I don't mind as much.
I once spent like an hour just staring at my characters ass and showing off her ass to my family because it was the perfect ass and the camera angle shoved it in my face for the first scene so I literally couldn't NOT notice.
Shout out to character creators that let you use different lighting and environments in the background so you can see what your character will look like in the game instead of in “perfect” lighting.
BG3 too!!!! but Dragon Age's new character customization UI has made me SO MAD bc I'll have a character look great in the custom menu and then look like a 70 yr old toad in the first cutscene 😭😭😭

I've done that.

only to play for 100 years and then start a new game
