This was really where Shaffer had her finger most closely on the pulse of about 55% of Ward 7 delegates: they truly feel they’re being vilified for being wealthy and they probably think the rest of us should be thankful for them.
I heard so many people in the auditorium parroting lies from AoM/WLM

When Shaffer gave a shout out to businesses being vilified I thought the roof would come off. Ward 7 delegates loved it.

And they still feel like they’re victims? And they need more!
We need to figure out how to mobilize all these younger folks in the area.
I'd love for them to look in the mirror a little & wonder what their wealth (& whiteness, combined) makes them do that causes them not to look as good as they'd like to be perceived. Just like, be curious & maybe find/figure out solidarity.
To be clear, I don’t think they’re fascists like MAGA. I think they’re fragile egotists who want to be coddled.
The whole process is insular and opaque for people who aren’t already involved. Everyone knows each other and background knowledge and context are assumed.
If the whole thing depends on being clubby, of course the old boy’s club wins!
It's also frustrating because like, I'm out of PTO and disabled. Participating in caucuses is hard. Not impossible, but with a million political priorities right now I just couldn't make myself show up for hours of miserable caucus that I would sacrifice rent money at.
But the process itself was excruciating to me (it was 3~hrs to the 1st round vote, Soren had 68% of the vote, won the nom, but Andrea still won). Felt futile.
We’ll see what happens in 10 at the end of the month!
But we have til November to figure out some ways of connecting with people who are usually ignored by the DFL process.
You’re right-we are here too (and we always have been) and I hope you can see we are not the enemy.
