What’s the best way to play commander with 6 people? Do you do some kind of mini game?
In the past, we’ve either done very long games or an equivalent of two headed giant but for 3 heads. We’ve also done 3 sets of partners but one from each team goes first then rotates lol

1) be *sure* that everyone understands what their role is meant to do
2) things kind of break when lots of decks are aiming to be combo decks rather than aggro, and the game still takes ages
1. Secret partners (3 players have a land face up, other three are unknown.
2. We power up to near CEDH
3. I don't know what it's called but it'll be 5v1. The 1 gets 200 life, 2 extra lands and 2 extra draws
I would personally look to other Magic formats - drafting, Party Box or Cube.
I’m pretty sociable, and have been conned into playing a lot of 5+ player commander games. In most cases I wish I’d just hung out, watched and had a few drinks with the players.
For six players, I'd still break up into 2x3 pods.
Now that my sister-in-law and brother-in-law have joined us, we break into a 3 player, and a 4 player game.
If you're there to PLAY, and you're concerned with rigorous and competitive game play, two small pods is great. I play in 3 at lunch.
If you're there to HANG, and you could be doing anything, play a big game and add a fun accelerator gimmick like Monarch in the Middle, or Uno Magic.
Today Mayor McCheese died going infinite and accidentally killing the Grimace before properly identifying the Fry Guys.
Each team has an emperor with area of influence 2, and two generals with are of influence 1.
You can "deploy" creatures to adjacent players, and you can only attack opponents you're adjacent to.

We've got ✨taste✨.
God I miss that time when the packs were all free and nothing cost anything.
First two out start their own 1v1
Next two out play 1v1
Winners 1v1.
Then back to two 3 player games.

Mash everyone’s decks together. Split cards up into 18 packs. Start an impromptu cube draft

we only had one problem player who didn't care for the secret roles and never looked at his card until after he use a combo to end the game. turned out he was the Knight and lost the game because the King lost as well. lol
