If you login to FB with the parameters "/?sk=h_chr" you should see more posts made by people on your friend list and skip most of the algorithmic gunk FB serves you otherwise:

unfortunately it only works on your web browser and your phone/tablet app has no equivalent that I know of

Many of my IRL friends are still there and I enjoy seeing their pictures and hearing from them. I also use it to see what Oregon Republicans are saying (for research purposes). I assume it's the conservative stuff I click on (plus my white maleness) that results in me getting so much propaganda.

I deleted Facebook and Insta last week because of this. The only stuff that showed up on my feed were ads, promoted shit, and AI garbage. I quit using Facebook a year ago but kept it and checked in every now and then. But the recent Zuck bullshit made me pull the trigger and delete it all.

Oddly, some of the AI garbage I was getting were "photos" of Oregon landscapes and landmarks. There was a particularly egregious one of the Columbia Gorge. None of the "photos" were even close to resembling the purported subjects.

I'd complain about the people who fell for them, but were they really people, or bots? There's no way to know. So I mass deleted every post, like, mention, invite, photo...everything. Then deleted. There's a cooling off period of a month, but should be gone by mid-February.
