I hope they find the truth. There are a couple of narratives at play.
One is clearly not a hate crime.
The other (so far) says it was, as noted by Joss's partner.

I think the real deal is somewhere in the middle.

From what I have been able to piece together:

1. Neighbor has been hostile to them for years.
2. The murder takes place day one of Pride month.
3. The assailant uses homophobic language during the act.

I just don't see how this isn't a hate crime. Like it wasn't an accident it happened on June 1.

I've seen more 411 than that, though. I'd hate to think it was a hate crime, but maybe it was. I'm gonna wait for a final report to show up.

PS Either way - just a horrible situation. Having just been thru a fire here in March, I saw that their home had burned down in January. (They were just going there to get mail from time to time.) His emotions were all over the place already I bet. Bless him.
