True, and/but this poll only asks if they've "heard about" the case, so it doesn't account for if the people answering the poll have actual accurate information about it. But it's definitely fucked beyond belief that something as cut and dry as this can have misinformation spread about :/

Dems and Libs completely ignored how much the vast majority of Americans outside of the progressive echo chamber despise immigrants and open borders. That's the takeaway from this poll and last year's election results.

It might matter, tho, how they talk about it. Using these people's horror as evidence that Rs are abominable and irredeemable, while certainly true, may not be as effective as building compassion and offering concrete ways forward.

Don't forget that hearing about the case also includes hearing lies about the case. Someone that has only gotten the fascist propoganda angle would still be counted as hearing about the case.

Too many people only get as far as "I want the government to be able to do bad things to people I think are bad" and don't at all think through the implications.
