After all that happened with D2 since 2022 it's very, very hard to not want Marathon to die on arrival (I'm really trying). I know it's not developer's fault but maybe if Bungie didn't had abandoned D2 to a shell of the past, the vibe could be more positive.

I can understand the pessimism and optimism surrounding the game. I really like the Bungie aesthetic and I am planning on buying Marathon. It might not be something I play all the time, but I want it to do well and I am excited about the release. I guess we’ll see what happens!

He's realistic but he's definitely more hopeful that things will be good rather than not.

I've never picked up hope from his writing. Like, ever.

Dude always comes off as downright miserable about games to me. Maybe a little less so since he's stopped tying his livelihood to one game, sure, but dude has been a Debbie Downer in about 2/3 of his Forbes blog posts I've read over the years.

I'm not faulting the guy, or you, but I'm just saying that I've never seen anything really come off as optimistic, or even happy, when he writes about games, at least in my opinion.

I think for me it kinda boils down to how limited the game is? 6 characters and 4* maps and. one mode, it seems a bit light on content for a game with a price tag. It doesn't exactly scream fun to me to just lose everything on death either. It just seems like it's another game made for streamers

I think one element that could elevate the game is it being in the Marathon universe. The previous trilogy has crazy lore (insane/funny AI’s, wacky aliens, time travel) and if they tie that lore to the game, and don’t do a launch Destiny of inaccessible lore, that could engage a lot of players
